General Support Services

CALLVAC: Provides 24-hour information and referral for the Columbus Area. Call 221-2255.

Center for New Directions: Provides programs, material, and support to advise, educate and assist victims in attaining financial self-support. Call 461-6117.

Elizabeth Blackwell Center: Provides individual counseling and support programs. Call for appointments and fee information. Call 566-5153.

Ohio Victims of Crime Program: May provide reimbursement for out-of-pocket personal injury expenses caused by crime. The crime must be reported within 72-hours. Lost, damaged, or stolen property is not covered. Call 466-6480 or 1-800-824-8263.


Counseling Services

Catholic Social Services: Family Counseling. Individual, group, marriage and substance abuse counseling. Crisis Intervention. Emergency housing. Call 221-5891

Children's Hospital Divorce Services: Counseling for families, child custody mediation, and assessment of children during divorce. Family education and support groups. Call 794-2145

CHOICES:Individual and group counseling at Riverside, Mt. Carmel, and Choices Administration Office. Domestic violence peer support group. Call 224-4663

Crittendon Family Services: Alcohol, drug, and individual counseling. Family life education and home management. Call 221-7608

I Care Program: Prevention programs for high-risk families involving child abuse and domestic violence. Call 297-7877

Lutheran Social Services: Individual, couple, and family therapy and education. Day and evening groups for men responsible for physical and emotional abuse. Call 228-5209.

Project Linden, Inc.: Men's and women's programs. Variety of groups on parenting, sexual abuse, stress management, etc. Call 294-5677

Southeast, Inc.: Individual, group, and family counseling. Offers a women's support group for victim's and a men's support group for batterers. The men's program is structured to help the batterer examine his responsibility for the violence and to introduce behavior modification techniques. 24-hour Emergency Services Call 225-0990


Legal Services

The Legal Aid Society of Columbus: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm Provides free and reduced fee representation and referrals for low-income persons in civil matters.Call 224-8374

Columbus Bar Association: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm Provides free referral to experienced attorneys specializing in the appropriate area of law.Call 221-4112


Emergency Housing

CHOICES: Provides emergency shelter for women and children (ages 0-17yrs). Individual and/or group counseling, substance abuse counseling, crisis hotline, outreach counseling at hospital locations, referral information and victim advocacy also available. 24-hours Service. Call 224-4663

Decision Center, Inc.: Provides emergency shelter, economic, spiritual, and emotional support. Call 258-7227

Salvation Army: Provides emergency shelter and meals for women and children (boys must be under 13 years) 24-hour Service. Call 221-6561

Friends of the Homeless: Provides emergency shelter, food, clothing, social service assessment, and referral to homeless persons over 18 years of age. Call 253-2770

Volunteers of America: Provides emergency housing, meals, support services, and referrals to families with children. Call 224-4322
