Deputy Chief Gary A. Dunlap
Deputy Chief Gary Dunlap joined the Division of Police in 1973 and worked in Patrol on second shift before transferring to the Traffic Bureau in 1978. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1984 and then to the rank of Lieutenant in 1992. As a Lieutenant he worked various assignments in Patrol until promoted to Commander in 2001. As a Commander he worked in Patrol, Communications Bureau, Business Office, and his most recent assignment, the Traffic Bureau. Deputy Chief Dunlap was promoted to Deputy Chief on September 11, 2015 and assigned to the Support Services Subdivision.
Deputy Chief Dunlap earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Capital University in 1997, and a Master of Business Administration from Ohio Dominican University in 2008. In addition to his college work, Deputy Chief Dunlap is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Associates in 2002 and the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in 2010.
